Introduction

Program Outcome

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

Demonstrate the breadth of knowledge in the discipline and advance, in-depth knowledge in the sub-discipline or area of specialization.
Perform and defend an original work of research in their fields of specialization which contributed new human knowledge.
Identify, analyze critically and explain open problems in their disciplines and apply relevant research methodology for finding a possible solution.
Communicate the major tenets of their field of specialization and their work orally and in writing to the faculty, their peers, and the lay public.
Identify areas where ethical issues may arise in their field, and articulate strategies to mitigate situations related to ethical issues in their profession.
Demonstrate insight into the transferable nature of research skills to other work environments and the range of career opportunities available to them inside and outside academia.

This placement is not compulsory but does provide a valuable opportunity for career development and networking. Flexible delivery

You can choose to complete the course full-time for over two years or part-time over four years. Graduates of the QUT Graduate Diploma in OHS or QUT Graduate Diploma in Environmental Health are eligible to complete the master’s program in one year full-time. Graduates from other universities with similar graduate diplomas may be eligible to receive advanced standing towards the Master of Health, Safety, and Environment based on their completed units.

Career outcomes

The course is designed to qualify graduates for Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) positions in a wide range of industries. Position titles include: HSE Advisor, HSE Coordinator, HSE Manager, HSE Auditor, and Sustainability Manager.

You will gain advanced knowledge and skills to successfully undertake HSE advisory or management roles that encompass OHS and EM, in a wide range of industries and locations.
